Lent
What is Lent?
Lent is a season of penance lasting approximately 40 days. The Church has set aside this penitential period for the preparation of the faithful for the celebration of the Lord’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. This holy season is connected to the Paschal Mystery. It is during this period that Catechumens prepare for Christian initiation and current Church members prepare for Easter by recalling their Baptism and performing works of penance (i.e., prayer, fasting and almsgiving).
